I get excited and genuinely pleased when someone decides to adopt fitness into their life. I feel that moment of success! Another one hooked to the feeling of good.
I’ve come to find that we can adopt fitness into our lives and we can go quite a ways on that alone but most of us do so much better when we learn a little about energy for the human body.
I’ve found my niche in Sports Nutrition and Personal Training. If the least I do, is help someone understand their own body better and they start finding their own energy in/energy out then I’m one happy girl!
I love helping others take control of their health. We all need to! Doctors should be there to guide us and give us help and information that we can’t get on our own but we have to give them quality feedback! We have to let them know that we’re paying attention to our bodies and that they can trust what we tell them.
So, here’s my job...I’m helping people understand how their basic body movements work and how their basic energy needs work. From there it’s up to them to make magic! And they do!

I’m taking on a new approach...helping the adults I work with teach their kids while they’re young so that today’s youth have a better chance at living a quality life.
I’m taking on this challenge myself. I’ve already taught my girls. They pay attention to what they eat and they pay attention to the macros. They know they need a portion of all three in order to function their best. They’ve experienced the proof!
Now I’m teaching my eleven year old son. He’s definitely mature enough and savvy enough to take on the task so I’ve made a deal. He get’s a new video game if he logs his food in myfitnesspal for one month.
I’m not using this opportunity to be on his case about what he does eat. I’m using this opportunity to point out what his calories limits should be based on his activity and what his macros not only are, but how much of each macro he should get daily. Once we’ve got a couple weeks under our belt and he understand the workings of the program then maybe I’ll throw in a couple more challenges. Such as: Can he attain the macro percentages close? And can he swiftly choose in his mind what is protein and carb and fat without having to fret over it.
I’m super excited about this journey because I’ve seen the look in his eyes during our new workout sessions together. He’s got the bug! He’s infected with the excitement of a feel good workout! He loves seeing his progress and loves how good he feels.
What parent wouldn’t want to teach their child this so that when he’s 50 or 60 he will have a little less worry about how overweight he is or how much plaque is on his arteries! He’ll have a better chance of feeling his best at 50 instead of his worst!
We spend too much time dying and not enough time living. Let's reverse this!
Below I've included a chart showing approximate calorie intake for activity levels and age and gender. Remember, sedentary is someone who sits all day. Moderately active would be someone who stands all day and active would be someone who physically is moving all day or moving items. These categories are not regarding fitness activity, only daily activity.
